CANEW 2019

GRP has attended CANEW, Canadian Airports National Electrical Workshop, at the beautiful Ville de Québec.

This is the second time we are in this key meeting of the Canadian Airports.

Last year, at Lethbridge AB, we had the opportunity of presenting our ILCMS solutions to the Canadian market. Since then we have reached a partnership agreement with Empower Airport Solutions, based in Ontario, a leading manufacturer and system integrator in this very prestigious market.

Vancouver Airport

Last May we installed our ILCMS system at Vancouver Airport with our partner. We have presented at CANEW this year this case. The current system they have in place at Vancouver does not behave as per their expectations, with response times, according to the customer, up to 11 seconds. We installed GRP system in three Stop Bars (A, L and L4), without changing any of the existing elements in the field, nor the primary cable nor the lights or the transformers. The system is fully integrated in the Control and Monitoring System of the Airport. The result has been absolutely satisfactory for the customer. This is reflected by the awarding of a new Project with GRP ILCMS that Empower will deliver (D Taxiway).

Smart Airfield

We have had the opportunity to present our Smart Airport concept. With a state of the art powerline carrier communication technology, GRP has presented a full set of Sensor Management solutions. Its new LUMB, working as the lamp units (LU/LUD) on the primary cable, has the ability of powering sensors (up to 24Vdc), manage RS485 connected devices, 4 digital outputs, 4 digital inputs and one analogue input 4-20 mA.

This allows to integrate very different sensors allowing solutions to key problems that worries the airports operators as bolt detection to prevent FODs.  Besides, other solutions are possible: microwave barriers, anemometer for wind speed, or any other you may imagine.

This is the concept of Smart Airfield, based on considering the Primary Cable the true backbone of a Smart Airfield, allowed by mastering powerline carrier communication.

Attendants had the chance to learn of these solutions with a presentation delivered. They could experience first-hand the equipment visiting our booth at the Tradeshow day.

Thanks to everyone at CANEW!
